Description

The story of Spruce Sugar is based on refining the by-products of the forestry industry. Typically, the spruce sawdust we use as raw material is used as fuel for heating and energy production. At Boreal Bioproducts, water-soluble components are extracted from the sawdust using a water-based process. The raw water used in our extraction process is sourced from the clear waters of the Kokemäki River. No other solvents are used, making Spruce Sugar a true natural product that contains no synthetic additives, chemicals, or microplastics. Since we use an existing by-product, no trees are felled to produce our product. Forest certifications (PEFC™ and FSC®) ensure that the wood raw material comes from responsibly managed Finnish forests, and the supply chain is transparent. The wood-based raw material does not compete with arable land or food production.

In skincare, Spruce Sugar offers significant sensory and skin-brightening benefits. Additionally, as a bioactive ingredient, Spruce Sugar enhances the skin’s defense mechanisms and recovery and protects against oxidation and factors that cause cellular stress. Spruce Sugar has soothing and hyaluronic acid-activating properties.

Moisturizing effect:

The polysaccharides in Spruce Sugar can bind water to themselves, helping to maintain the skin's moisture balance. This makes it an effective ingredient, especially for treating dry skin.

Protective film:

It forms a light film on the skin that protects against environmental factors such as pollution and dryness. This film helps to retain moisture in the skin and prevents excessive water evaporation from the skin's surface.
